You’ve booked your session and now comes the next question, “Where do we shoot at?”
I am armed with some locations I like to frequent for my shoots, however you may have a special place in mind. I realize time and travel isn’t always considered when booking a session, so I’m here to break down location choices and their importance.
Yes, you can do your photoshoot just about anywhere. Love Target? Let’s do a stylized, lifestyle session while browsing the many aisle’s of one of my favorite stores! Into hiking and the desert landscape of The High Desert? Let’s climbs some rocks and get those shots you’ve been dreaming of! Love the look of lush pines and thick foliage? Big Bear Mountain is a favorite place of mine to shoot! We can trek the sides of the mountains or hit the village! Locations can make or break your session – it’s a truth that I’ve noticed not many photographers talk about. The location of your photo session is just as important as the outfits you’ve spent the last month considering and purchasing. Location’s can reflect a family and their personalities. Location’s can take your pictures from looking like Aunt Gertrude took a quick snappy at the annual family picnic or your own personal spread in Parent’s Magazine.
One of the number one questions I am asked is, “Can we shoot in my backyard?”
I am sure your backyard is lovely and if you’re interested in a Lifestyle session at your home, it’s definitely a possibility! However, don’t let convenience sway your choice. The thought of trekking out with your less than willing husband and three kids is a daunting one, but I promise, the end result will be worth it. Considering your location is an important one, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Together, we can work out the perfect location for your family and session needs.
